ABOUT US

The Centre for Vocational Studies and Skill Development is an innovative academic unit of Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora Uttarakhand which is directly related to impart refined and advanced vocational education to the students. The Centre is specifically designed as a platform for recognizing the vocational abilities of students and to skill them in specific vocation. Under the flagship of Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora the centre is generating well trained and vocationally skilled human resource to meet the demand ratio of various industries. The priority and main objective of the Centre is to excel the vocational skill of the students through various B.Voc courses as per the direction and guidelines of UGC, following the multiple exit system i.e. the unique feature of National Policy of Education-2020. Focusing on the quality education and providing opportunities for better employability on the basis of student’s vocational skill is the main aim of the Centre. The courses are being conducted on the basis of Public Private Partnership mode (PPP). Courses are selected on the basis of availability of resources and need base analysis of the stake holders. The university is very keen to develop and equip our students to compete globally with great sense of nation building responsibilities in each aspects of overall development. University is focusing on the excellence of vocational skill of the students and integration of vocational education from Secondary level to Higher education level. Enhancement of local need base vocations and coordinating it with state, national and global level will definitely empower our stake holders. It also positively contributes towards acceleration of the socio- economic status and overall development of the Nation.

MISSION OF THE CENTRE

Equipping the students in various skills according their abilities, by providing equal opportunities and quality vocational education to motivate them for choosing appropriate employment.

OBJECTIVES

To identify vocational aspirations of the students.
To award Certificate, Diploma, Advance Diploma and Undergraduate B.Voc. degree with multiple exits, incorporating specific job roles.
To provide the students vocational training as per their capabilities.
To motivate the students to perform their duties to strengthen the socio- economic status of the nation.
To facilitate the students with the best and quality vocational educational environment.
To enhance the participation of the stakeholders with regard to the refinement of the centre’s activities.
To achieve the goals and objectives of National Education Policy -2020 and UGC Bachelor Vocation Programme with reference to Vocational Education.

PROGRAMME AND COURSES ON PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP MODE

On the basis of local need base analysis and industry based requirement various vocational courses under the guidelines of UGC & National Skills Qualifications Framework the following programmes / courses are currently running in the centre. In these courses theoretical as well as internship based practicum/ hand on experience are provided to the students to enhance their vocational skills.
