The Department of Biology at Soban Singh Jeena University invites students to carry out cutting-edge research through its PhD program in Biological Sciences. The university offers fully funded fellowships to select candidates. We are recruiting PhD candidates for the academic session 2026-2027 in the following thematic areas:
This research area aims to understand the role of epigenetic changes in the aging immune system using nanoscale spatial genomics approaches. The work will explore how age-associated inflammation contributes to immune dysregulation and age-related diseases.
Research exploring communication, behaviour and quantitative cognition in zebrafish and insects.
Research focused on immune dynamics and targeted therapeutic approaches for ALK-positive lung cancer.
Research examining tumor immunology and epigenetic mechanisms associated with cancer development and progression.
Computational approaches to disease genomics and their applications in precision health.
Research using single-molecule imaging to study bacterial transcription processes.
Research investigating sex differences, evolutionary quantitative genomics and the genetic basis of complex human disorders.
Research exploring the evolution and diversification of immune systems.
Research examining environmental exposures and their combined effects on health.
Research combining stem cell biology with spatial, single-cell and computational omics approaches.
Research focused on antimicrobial resistance and its biological and public health implications.
Research in soft matter, biophysics, liquid-liquid phase separation and single-molecule dynamics.
Research examining the molecular mechanisms, regulation and physiological significance of circadian clocks.
Genomic approaches to understanding biodiversity, conservation and evolutionary processes.
Research focused on human immunology, dendritic cell biology and autoreactive inflammation.
Research examining glycobiological mechanisms associated with infectious diseases.
Research integrating artificial intelligence, machine learning and multi-omics for precision medicine.
Research exploring past ecosystems and ecological changes through paleo-ecological approaches.
Research investigating animal behaviour, ecology and evolutionary processes.
Research applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to the study of energy metabolism.
Research exploring mitochondrial inhibitors and their potential applications in cancer therapeutics.
Research focused on the neuroscience and biological mechanisms of sleep.
These thematic areas encompass the diversity in biological systems – in both length and complexity. State-of-the-art research facilities and a unique liberal arts environment allow PhD students at Soban Singh Jeena University to work on interdisciplinary research projects drawing on the expertise of faculty members within and beyond the Biology Department.
The Principal Investigators listed below will be recruiting PhD students in the admission cycle for the academic year 2026-2027.
* The faculty members will be recruiting only externally funded students who have received a scholarship from the government or partner organisations.
